Ahh, there’s just something about fall that feels so right! With our mild temperatures, funky little shops, small community celebrations and cozy treats, Grover Beach in coastal California is a great place to get into the spirit of the season. Come get in the groove with us this autumn!
What’s the Weather Like in Grover Beach in the Fall? |
---|
Fall in Grover Beach is actually much like the rest of the year in Grover Beach, mild and temperate. Average high temperatures are around 72° in October and 69° in November. The low temperatures at night do get a tad cooler, though, hovering around 50°. As we locals always advise around here, bring your light layers. The chance of rain begins to grow just a bit in November to 1-3 days a month, but rain really doesn’t take hold until winter in Grover Beach. In October in recent years, we’ve had some very warm weather surges lasting about a week or more, so if you love the heat, cross your fingers for another autumn summer! |
Get Spooky at Trunk or Treat
For some seasonal fun in the form of a community-sponsored event, you’ve got to drop in at Trunk or Treat at Ramona Garden Park on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, from 5 p.m. to dark. This family-friendly Halloween event includes a costume parade, games, hot dogs and of course plenty of candy. Sponsored by the local Rotary club and other community groups, this event is always a joyful – and just a little bit spooky – moment in our small town. Learn more.

Visit Some Enchanting Businesses
Speaking of things getting spooky, we’ve got to mention a few local businesses that would fit into any haunted itinerary. Stop off at these during October for some haunting Halloween-style fun:
Odd Fellows Antique Emporium: There’s something eerie about a few items in this unusual shop, but in a good way! Skeletal movie props and witchy knickknacks fill whole sections of this antique and oddity emporium.
Trippy Hippy Chic: This crystal kingdom is tucked within the front room of Phantom Stranger, a beloved local record store. Stock up on skulls, glowing ghosts and other freaky finds!
Nan’s Books & Crystals: This place somehow has a fall feeling no matter what time of year it is. It’s a cozy used bookstore with two loveable cats stalking about, and there are crystals too. Bring a coffee and a sweater.
The Pottery: This local pottery studio is offering some fun seasonal classes in fall 2024. Projects include making little ghost figurines and mugs shaped like harvest pumpkins and gourds.
The Planted Parlour: Enjoy Orchid-tober at this unique plant shop. On Oct. 19, The Planted Parlour will partner with the Five Cities Orchid Society to display unusual fall-blooming orchids.
And since it’s fall, we’ll go ahead and remind you that this is a perfect time to get started on your holiday shopping. Grover Beach has a fantastic selection of thrift stores, in particular, as well as other unique businesses that would love your support. Come find one-of-a-kind gifts for your loved ones.

Enjoy the Autumn Air in the Great Outdoors
There’s something about fall that just begs for a campfire, right? Here in coastal California, though, we like to be extra careful about fires, and one of the best places to safely enjoy them is at the beach. Pack up a cooler and a couple bundles of wood and drive right down onto the sand. Enjoy a safe and cozy fall bonfire while you watch the sunset over the ocean.
Grover Beach’s oceanside seat means that our weather is pretty moderate year-round, so that makes fall as good a time as any to enjoy beautiful outdoor activities. Enjoy the beach, go surfing, rent an e-bike from Coastal Vibes 805, hit the links at Pismo Beach Golf Course, explore the Oceano Dunes or take a stroll on our boardwalk.

Indulge in Autumn Flavors
Fall is harvest season, right? Well around here, our autumn bounty includes lots of yummy beverages! Here are a few autumn treats you should be sure to get:
Coffee: Hey, they don’t call it pumpkin spice season for nothing! Red Bee Coffee and Perfetto Cafe are two local independent coffee houses roasting up delicious specials.
Wine: Fall is wine harvesting season! Our two local wineries, Outward Wines and Monarch Grove Winery, will be releasing new vintages for connoisseurs to sip and sample.
Craft beer: Did you know Oktoberfest actually starts in September? That’s what the brewers at Apogee Brewing Co. and ManRock Brewing Co. say! Drop in to taste seasonal styles from our beloved local craft beer experts.
BONUS! Eat seasonal at The Spoon Trade: Many Grover Beach restaurants use local produce and seasonal specials on their menu, but The Spoon Trade is well known for switching it up each season. We can’t wait to try the latest fall menu. This awesome chef-driven spot was also recently featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” on the Food Network!
Grover Beach is a great place to enjoy all that fall has to offer. Come spend a day, a weekend or a week with us, and you’ll learn why we love it so much.
